The Evolution Of The Wig // Shinji Konishi
2009 April 5

Japanese hairstylist Shinji Konishi takes the concept of wigs to a whole new level, by creating these strange yet humorous animal wigs.
Before I jump to any conclusions about these wigs, I wanted to understand Konishi’s process a bit more.
Each wig is researched to the tee. Konishi studies facial expressions and shape of the animals face. He only selects animals with bold details and elements like elephants, dogs, and rabbits. Konishi then proceeds to create a mold, and then works with the mold to make the wig.
“I wanted something poisonous,” says Konishi. “I’m interested in strange and dark stuff.” Fierce!
